A rice-growing town in Pangasinan's third district
Mapandan sits in the Third Congressional District of Pangasinan, bounded by San Jacinto to the north, Mangaldan to the northwest, Manaoag to the east, and Santa Barbara to the south. Covering 32.92 square kilometres, around three-quarters of its land supports agriculture — mainly rice, alongside corn, livestock, and seasonal vegetables. The municipal administration operates under the tagline “Kaakibat niyo ang Aktibo at Responsableng Liderato” (Partnering with you in Active and Responsible Leadership).
Founded Dec. 28, 1887
Separated from Mangaldan as an independent pueblo under Governor General Emilio Bravo, led by ten local leaders including Antonio Morales, Sabino Prado, and Andres Bongato.
Re-established 1909
A severe epidemic forced temporary re-annexation to Mangaldan. Full autonomy was restored via Executive Order No. 10 by Governor General James F. Smith.
Agricultural heart
Approximately 75% of the municipality's 32.92 km² is dedicated to lowland crop production, livestock, and poultry farming.
